The expo, now in its 17th consecutive year, is organized by AsiaEvents Exsic Sdn Bhd. In its new venue at MITEC, the show will occupy Hall 6 on Level 2. According to the organizers of MIDE, the event will be bigger than previous years, and the space will comfortably feature the latest products and services of local and international exhibitors from 14 countries.

With over 172 companies in 220 booths featured at the expo, attending visitors from 14 countries, including Australia, Brunei, China, Denmark, Estonia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and the United Kingdom, will see and learn about the latest products and services in scuba diving, as well as conservation interests, and two new areas—watersports and sailing.

“It is evident the dive industry is resilient, having bounced back in 2021 in the midst of a challenging time,” said Ms Ness Puvanes, founder and organizer. “Since then, the dive industry has been enjoying increased interest and a growing community.” She added that boating and water sports have also enjoyed a strong comeback.

A record-breaking year

Indeed, with a greater number of participating exhibitors focused on elevating their brand awareness among water-lovers, it is a record-breaking year. MIDE is expecting over 15,000 water enthusiasts to attend the show, including 10,000 professionals. Projected sales of RM25million are expected during the three-day event.

First timers

There will be 69 new exhibitors, including major organizations such as Malaysian Sub-Aqua, Malaysian Underwater Hockey Association and Eco District Association. In addition, newcomer Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) will be presenting a range of water sports activities. Water enthusiasts visiting the expo will also see more manufacturers and distributors of sail boats, dive boats, car topper boats, rescue boat and kayaks.
